I’ve got about half the names linked in to the structure of the site. I really like working with WordPress and I think the site layout is good but something is not right. Not happy with the way the pages for the families and the individuals look or the way the information is presented. The information on the individual’s pages, the way it is laid out, doesn’t look clear to me and the charts are just too limited. The Family Tree presentation does a much better job on the charts. Unfortunately, it is not as easy to use. I’m not happy with the individual family pages either. I’ve toyed with the idea of subdividing the family pages into the different related families for each of the primary families, but that will mean more sub-level pages and adding sections to the site for each of these. A lot of work. Not sure it’s worth doing.
I think I’ll just suspend everything for now. The site will stay live for anyone who wants to explore it. There is a lot of information to explore and I’ll make the remaining pages available, just not sorted and assigned to the individual families. Meanwhile I need to do some cleaning up and updating of information on the tree at Ancestry.com. I noticed as I was working that there are some duplicates that need to be merged and a lot of hints have accumulated there that need to be checked out.
The whole point of this project was to make all the information I’ve gathered available to anyone in the family that wanted to see it since not everyone has access to the tree at Ancestry.com.
