Status of the Genealogy site.

Have been working on PerryFamilyRoots.com and things are coming along nicely.  Have the structure set and navigation well underway.  Dreamhost, (Where this site resides,) and a lot of other hosts with WordPress sites got hit by a major cyber hack this week.  They identified 90,000 sites around the world that were trying to break into WordPress sites on their servers.  Several other sites I was on this week also had the same thing going on.  The servers were overloaded and a lot of  WordPress sites just couldn’t be reached.  Mine included.  I was completely unable to get into it except by SFTP. (Don’t worry if you don’t know what that is.  Suffice to say I was able to get to the site and download everything.) It lasted all day Monday.  As a result I did the research needed to learn how to build a development site on my MAC notebook.  Got it all setup and working just fine.  Now I don’t have to keep crashing the live site on the internet to test out tweaks that I see are needed.  Also became a lot more familiar with the internal workings of WordPress and MySql.  Next step, get the navigation fully implemented the way I want it and start adding the thousands of individuals, documents, photos, and other files I already have housed at the site if I can ever get them all properly accessible….and secure.
