"It is what it is" is obviously true, but "que sera, sera" is not. I reject the idea that we have nothing to say about the future. We can not change the past, (although there have been many attempts to re-write history) but "what will be" is what we make it. If we don't want the future to be what today is then we need to decide what we want it to be and then figure out how to make it "be" and the place to start is history because as Einstein put it doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is insanity.
