Anger and Fear.
“Three types of anger are recognized by psychologists:
The first … is connected to the impulse for self-preservation. It is shared between humans and non-human animals and occurs when tormented or trapped.
The second type of anger … is a reaction to perceived deliberate harm or unfair treatment by others. ….
The third type of anger is … related … to character traits …”
“… angry people are more likely … to blame a person’s behavior … on his nature than on his circumstances. They tend to rely more on stereotypes, and pay less attention to details and more attention to the superficial.”
“Anger … impairs one’s ability to process information and to exert … control over their behavior. An angry person may lose his/her objectivity, empathy, prudence or thoughtfulness …”

“It’s valuable to allow all sides of an argument to be heard. But it’s not valuable for there to be personal attacks, or to have messages with an angry tone. Even someone who is making a legitimate point but with an angry tone is hurting the nature of the argument …” Edward Wasserman http://peoplespoliticsiii.yuku.com/topic/31804/Why-is-everyone-on-the-Internet-so-angry#.UCdQwMhYuIc
I’m not angry, I’m scared.
The decade of the 1890’s was called the gay 90’s (ie. lighthearted and carefree) but they weren’t very carefree for most people. What I hear Romney, Ryan, and the Tea Party saying is that they want to return things (not technology, but social, economic, and political things) to what they were in the 1890s. A time when big business meant monopolies, a time when workers had no rights, a time when air and water pollution was legal, a time when there was no income tax, a time when minorities had no rights and were barely even considered to be human, a time when only people of pure European ancestry were considered worthy to be called Americans, a time when old age meant depending on charity just to be able to eat, a time when the President of the United States had to go begging to J. P. Morgan for a loan to keep the Government from running out of money. I’m scared. I don’t want to return things to the way they were in the 1890’s. I don’t even want to go back to the 1920’s or the 1950’s or even the 1980’s. I’m scared because so many people are not hearing the implications of what Romney, Ryan, and the Tea Party’s plans really mean for all of us except the very top 1 or 2 percent of the population.
